Thought about upgrading to either 20 or 30 megs as we add more Internet ready devices in the house. On a side note, will you keep your Internet access through TWC? Have you upgraded the data package on your internet? Standard internet speed here is 10 Meg.

Of course, I have thought about reformatting my old G5 tower and connecting it to the t and do everything through it and add web browsing to the tv. Will also give me a USB port in the entertainment cabinet that is wifi capable. The AES will allow me to pump the music from the computers through the home stereo. Though, I am leaning towards to Roku and an Airport Express Station (AES) from Apple. I can get an adapter cable to hook up my iPhone to the TV for Hulu. However, the AppleTV does not allow access to Hulu. We have a huge amount of music on iTunes. Our Blu-Ray is not Internet capable and we honestly do not watch enough DVDs to justify getting a new Blu-Ray player. We have a Wii and use it for access to the Netflix trying to come up with a simple way to access Hulu Plus. We too are in the process of ditching cable and going with streaming services. Key compatible services: iTunes, Netflix, YouTube, Flickr, Mobile Me (Photos), Internet radio. Meanwhile, owners of iOS devices-iPads and newer iPhones and iPod Touch models-can stream audio (like Pandora and other Web- and app-based audio streams) from those handheld devices directly to the Apple TV using its built-in AirPlay technology. It's the only box that's compatible with iTunes purchases can be streamed from networked computers, and a smaller subset of TV show rentals are available for instant streaming to the box.

Key compatible services: Anything (except for encrypted DVDs and Blu-ray movies) that you can view on your PC screen. (Compatible files can also be sent directly to the Veebeam box using the built-in software).

Key compatible services: Netflix, YouTube, Pandora, Flickr, Mediafly,Ĭonnect the Veebeam box to your TV's HDMI input, plug the USB dongle into your PC or Mac, install the Veebeam software, and you're pretty much good to go: whatever you watch on your PC screen-including Flash video-is mirrored onto your TV a few seconds later. It can also act as a server-and read from network servers-as well as attached USB drives.Does not have built in wifi.

Key compatible services: Netflix, Amazon, Hulu Plus, YouTube, Pandora, Slacker, plus almost two dozen others DLNA (home media streaming) Sony BDP-S570 blue ray player, or similar. Key compatible services: Netflix, Amazon Video On Demand, Hulu Plus, Mediafly, MLB.TV, NHL GameCenter, Pandora, Flickr, plus dozens of others. Those of you who have experience, I would appreciate your input. Here are some other options I am considering but know little about. I have no intention of wasting my life on video games so that option is out. Some of you have video game players that stream video. I don't know what kind of quality video and sound this will give me, not to mention, the streaming devices will give me more options, I think. The most simple solution is to run a hdmi cable from my computer to my tv. This I want to change asap, but I'm not sure which route to take as there are a plethora of options. I have no device that allows me to stream on my tv which sits about a dozen feet away from my computer.

So far, I've only been able to stream on my computer.

For me personally, I have been quite dissatisfied with my cable provider (TWC) with both their ridiculous fees for movie rentals and their inability to maintain consistent quality control so I recently signed up for a Netflix account ($10 per month for streaming vids and dvd's) with the goal of eventually phasing out my cable service altogether. I just read that 2011 is quickly becoming the year of streaming internet video and its easy to see why this service is gaining in popularity.
